Beyond the Rave
13 03 2008
I was at the Guardian’s Changing Media Summit on Wednesday. There were some interesting presentations (and some very dull ones), but the one from MySpace SVP, Travis Katz, got me interested just because of the teaser trailer for Beyond the Rave.
MySpace have struck a deal with the newly resurgent Hammer Films to serialise its new vampire movie online. The film will be streamed in three minute segments to subscribers, culminating later in a full-length DVD release.
The film looks like good fun, and from what I saw, certainly didn’t seem to skimp on the production values. But, despite the strong nostalgic value of the Hammer brand, I just can’t see myself signing up to MySpace in order to watch it. Being way outside the 16-24 demographic audience and having an attention span slightly beyond three minutes, I think I’ll wait for the DVD release to see what the fuss is about.
